Funeral Director in Charge Jena Ortega has been serving Topeka families since 2015. She joined funeral service to be able to provide the comfort that each family deserves when they lose a loved one, and to help them gain peace and comfort through honoring their loved ones.
Jena has been married to Metropolitan Topeka Airport Authority (MTAA) Assistant Chief of Police and Fire Chris Ortega since 2014, and they have three beautiful children, Aurora, Raelynn and Damian. Jena loves working in North Topeka, and appreciates the unique nature of this city within a city. Jena is a member of the North Topeka Business Alliance and a seamstress for the Topeka Nutcracker with the Kansas Ballet Academy. She also serves on Six Feet Over - Lemon Aid's Project in assisting families that have lost their loved one due to suicide, heads up the Overbrook Veterans Committee and participates in the Overbrook Friends of the Library.
Funeral Director Scott Hayen has been a part of the Topeka community since 1974, with a short break for a few years in the 90’s. Scott and his wife Kelley have been married for over 40 years and have two children, Christopher and Heidi Jo. Kelley taught in the Shawnee Heights District from 1981 until retiring after the 2019-20 school year.
Scott began his career in funeral service while a college student at Washburn University. As a friend of the Price family, he was invited to come work part-time for them during his college years. Scott has enjoyed being involved in a number of activities in the community throughout his life and appreciates all that Topeka has to offer.
Ed became the owner of the Davidson Funeral Home in 1997 when his family purchased the funeral home from the Davidson family. In 2021, Ed partnered with the Newcomer family to carry forward the tradition of excellence in funeral service to Topeka families. In 2022, Ed retired from funeral service. The Davidson team and the entire North Topeka community appreciate Ed's years of dedicated service to our community.
Administrative Coordinator Vanessa Robinson has lived in North Topeka since 1991 and has always appreciated the rich heritage of our community. She decided to enter funeral service because it gave her the opportunity to support local families in times of need.
We like to say that we are “neighbors helping neighbors,” and as a North Topekan, Vanessa is honored to serve as a trusted guide during difficult times. Prior to joining our funeral home, Vanessa taught preschool for eight years at Quincy Elementary School. She has two children, son Brock and daughter Oakley.
