Catherine "Cathy" J. (Smith) Goodwin passed away, Wednesday August 11 at Aldersgate Village in Topeka, Kansas.

Cathy was born to Howard and Darlene Smith on November 2, 1944 in Wahpeton, North Dakota. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1962. She worked in Kansas City several years. She married Bill Maloney, they later divorced. Cathy married Dan Goodwin in December of 1972. Cathy spent the majority of their married life as a homemaker in Memphis, Tennessee where Dan was the school band director. She was the Band Mom on several trips. She enjoyed her friendships with sorority sisters in Beta Sigma Phi. Cathy was an active member of Capleville United Methodist Church, singing in the church choir, serving as mission chair and active in United Methodist Women. She was instrumental in the creation of the church food pantry. After Dan's death in 2015 Cathy moved to Aldersgate Village in Topeka, Kansas. She enjoyed travel and music, attending many concerts.

Cathy is survived by 2 step daughters, Cassandra Dracus and Denise (Greg) Barnes; One brother, Jim "JT" Smith; Two sisters, Liz (Randy) Gragg, Cheryl (Wayne) Sylvester; and 7 nieces and nephews and their families.

Memorials are suggested to the Capleville United Methodist Church Memphis Mid-South Food Bank3865 South Perkins Memphis, TN 38118UMCOR United Methodist Committee On Relief.
