He was born July 14, 1937, in Meriden, Kansas, the son of George and Helen (Vance) Sherretts. He graduated from Meriden High School. After graduating, he joined the US Naval Reserve.
Harlan was employed with DuPont, later known as Flexel, retiring after over 30 years.
Survivors include three children: John (Amy) Sherretts, Valley Falls, KS; Scarlett (Mike) Sherretts-Risley; and Amber (Rick) Bartel, all of Overland Park, KS; three siblings, Louis Sherretts, Leota Westbrook, and Nola (Jay) Ellis; six grandchildren, Bryson (Gabrielle) Risley, Bailey (James) Grey, Hunter (Jonathan) Sherretts-Woulfe, Tucker Sherretts, Theodore Bartel, and Madeline Bartel; and three great-grandchildren, Hadleigh, Tate, and Beau Harlan Grey.
He was preceded in death by five siblings, Jennie Coleman, George R. Sherretts, Jr., Floyd Sherretts, Mildred Westbrook, and Ernest Sherretts.
Harlan enjoyed farming, small engine repair, truck farming and his family, especially grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Parker-Price Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Muddy Creek Cemetery in Jackson County, Kansas. Visitation will be on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
