Cathy enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with family. She was witty, funny and always had advice to offer, whether solicited or not. Her daughters, grandchildren and dogs were her world. Cathy had an affinity and deep compassion for animals and loved all creatures, large and small. She was a member of Holy Name (Mater Dei) Church for many years.
Cathy was born June 30, 1945 in St. Louis, MO to Glenn W. Sams and Grace H. (Johnson) Follmer. They preceded her in death along with her sister, Stephanie (Sams) Neria and her beloved dog, Annie. She moved to Topeka as a small child and lived out her remaining years there. She married Michael J. Glotzbach on March 31, 1967. They had two daughters but later divorced. Cathy is survived by her daughters; Linda (Michael) DeMiranda of Bolivar, MO and Lisa (Neil) Claspill of Topeka, 8 grandchildren; Alyssa (Evan) Clark, Ryan (Sarah Prewitt) Russell, Adam Thomas, Joshua (Kayla Ford) Thomas, Holly Thomas, Jessica Claspill, Grace Claspill and Katlyn Claspill as well as two great-grandchildren; Townsend Russell and Sailor Lopez. Other survivors include two brothers; Stephen (Dolores) Sams, Kai (Melissa) Follmer, both of Topeka, and her dog, Piper.
Graveside service for family and friends will be at 2:30PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Catherine’s name to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st. St.,Topeka, KS 66604.
