He was born March 25, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Ress and Nettie (Michael) Flowers. He served in United States Navy during WWII.
He was a switchman with Rock Island & Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring after 39 years.
Bill was a member of American Legion Post 400 and a 50 year member of the switchman's union.
On January 23, 1955, he married Betty J. Clark. She survives. Other survivors include their three children: Thomas Flowers, Betty Haynes and Joseph Flowers; his brother, Gerald Flowers; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions. Interment will follow with military honors at Rochester Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
