Winifred Wilma "Winnie" Denzler
Winifred Wilma "Winnie" Denzler, 97, Topeka, KS, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Midland Hospice House. She was born July 11, 1919, at Altoona, KS, the daughter of Irvin Joseph and Arzilla May (Shoaf) Wiles.
Winnie graduated from Garnett High School in 1937. She moved from Garnett, KS, to Topeka in 1950. She was a member of Oakland Christian Church where she was the first woman Elder. Winnie was a member and served as President of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and many other church offices.
She was married to John Joseph Denzler, Jr. on August 1, 1937, at Fort Scott, KS. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a grandson: Derek Douglas Denzler; and siblings: Warren Wiles, Samuel Wiles, and Roberta Forsythe.
Surviving are two daughters: Donna Dean Hubert of Topeka, and Ellen Mae Thomas of Huntsville, AL; two sons: Jerry Leon Denzler (Patricia) of Silver Lake, KS, and Larry Duane Denzler (Sara) of Tucson, AZ; a sister: Margaret Troutman of Lamar, CO; a brother: Richard Wiles of Altoona; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Oakland Christian Church, 1001 NE Michigan, Topeka. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue, Topeka.
Winnie will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Friday, September 30th, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
