OBITUARY: William Robert Shinn
William Robert Shinn, 79, Topeka died Sun., Jan. 8, 2006, at Midland Hospice House. He was born Dec. 4, 1926, at Madison, KS the son of Charles Wesley and Lillie Irene (Hensley) Shinn.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He worked his life in construction. Mr. Shinn was a 54 year member, Past Master, and Perputal Life member of Golden Rule Lodge # 90; a member of Capital City Daylight Lodge # 452, A.F. & A.M; a life-member of Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies; a member of Square & Compass Club; and an honorary member of Orient Lodge # 51, A.F. & A.M. and Topeka Lodge # 17, A.F. &A.M. He was a Past District Deputy Grand Master for District # 15 of the Grand Lodge of Kansas, A.F. & A.M. and was the recipient of the Grand Lodge of Kansas' Unlimited Certificate of Proficiency and the Grand Master's Award.
In December 1949 to was married to Jeanette R. Charles at Colby, KS.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette of the home; a son: Todd Shinn of Wichita; a daughter: Terry Elliott (Randy) of St. Louis, MO; a sister: Mary Tipton of Meriden; and 2 brothers: Leonard Shinn of Arlington, VA and Kenneth Shinn of Osceola, MO.
Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thurs., Jan. 12, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence. Masonic services will be conducted by Golden Rule Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M. Interment of cremains will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
