William David "Bill" Heptig, 44, of Topeka, passed away at his home on Tuesday March 12, 2024. He was born August 26, 1979, in Concordia, Kansas, the son of Carolyn Bailey and Bruce Heptig.
Bill grew up in Silver Lake, Kansas and was active in sports from a young age. He graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1998. He attended college at Baker University and the University of Kansas, completing degrees in Mathematics and Civil Engineering in 2003. During his time at Baker, he played on the baseball team.
Bill worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation for 21 years. He was a licensed professional engineer in the state of Kansas.
Bill was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing billiards. He loved his family, friends and his dog, Lucy.
Survivors include his parents, Carolyn Bailey and Bruce and Kathy Heptig; siblings, Blair Heptig, Lauren Heptig, Tami Ellett, Shannon Wilson, Stephanie Engelkins, Jennifer Lee, and Lindsay Lee.
Bill was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Heptig; maternal grandparents, Raymond and Marie Bailey; paternal grandparents, William and Patricia Heptig.
A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the Parker-Price & Davidson Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. There will also be a reception after interment at The Woodshed, 1901 N Kansas Ave., Topeka.
