William L. Dorr

William L. “Boxcar” Dorr, 83, of Topeka passed away on September 18, 2017 at Midland Hospice.   He was born March 27, 1934 at Wichita, Kansas the son of Louis and Helen Rounsavell Dorr.  Willie was raised in Wichita and attended Wichita East High School.  After high school, he joined the army and served for two years.  Even serving part of his hitch in Germany.   Willie returned to Wichita. He went to work at the Santa Fe Shops in Wichita for 10 years before being transferred to Topeka in 1968 where he worked as a carman at the Santa Fe Shops before retiring in 1995.

He was married to Doris Lee Dorr.   Doris preceded him in death in 2008.

Survivors include his son Dave Dorr of Topeka; brothers, Edmond Dorr and Donald Dorr of Wichita; sisters, Betty Warne of Wichita and Doris Amberg of Wellington, KS; and one grandson, Derek Simpson of Topeka.

Along with Doris and his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy and his daughter Cheryl on January 2, 2007.

Funeral services will be held at Davidson Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 22 ^nd at 10:30 am.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital in care of Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N Kansas Ave., Topeka KS 66616.
