OBITUARY: William Alfred Rill, Jr.
William Alfred Rill, Jr., 78, Topeka, died Fri., Jan. 30, 2009, at Midland Hospice Respite. He was born Jan. 11, 1931, at Carl Junction, MO, the son of Amanda P. (Gibson) and William A. Rill, Sr. Bill was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a carpenter. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Un. Methodist Church at Carl Junction, MO; Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM; and Moose Lodge # 555. He was married to Lila Lee Diggs who preceded him in death. He was married to Lois A. Lewis on July 12, 1971. Surviving are his wife: Lois A. Rill of the home; a son: William A. "Buddy" Rill (Melody) of Topeka; 3 step-children: Larry Lewis, Diana Middaugh, and Cindy Rakestraw; 2 half sisters: Edith Clark (Norman) and Marie Clark (Harvey); 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a half-brother: Ray Rill. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., Feb. 6, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Golden Rule Lodge # 90, AF & AM, will conduct Masonic graveside services at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Bill will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice Respite, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606-2800.
