Willard Glen Guffey, 97 Years, of Topeka, passed away on December 6, 2021 at Plaza West Regional Health Center.
Glen was born on May 4, 1924 to John and Marguerite (Howard) Guffey at Topeka, Kansas. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1942. After graduation Glen was the first 18 year old drafted into the United States Army Air Corp. He served for over 3 years in India and the Mariana Islands during World War II, before being honorably discharged.
Glen later worked as a Supervisor for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for over 35 years before retiring. He received the Spirit Award for exemplary service.
On April 11, 1948, Glen married Stella M. Guffey (Ray) and lived in Topeka. Together they were married for 71 years.
Glen was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for 27 years. He was involved with cub scouts, being Cub Master for 16 years. Glen was a 75 year member of Lodge # 90 in Topeka. He was active in the Legion of Honor in the Arab Shrine and was the secretary for the Grotto.
Glen is survived by his children, John (Susan) L. Guffey, Paul G. Guffey, and Melvin (Penny) G. Guffey; 11 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Stella; both of his parents; son, Marvin D. Guffey; siblings, Juanita King, Margie Ladish, Robert Hatfield, Mary Pettit, Calvin Curtis, and Howard Curtis.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021, 10:00 am at Parker-Price Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery in Topeka.
