Wilford Sherman Harper, 79, of Topeka died Tues., March 1, 2005 at Midland Hospice House. He was born Dec. 8, 1925 at Topeka the son of Sherman U. and Bessie Nora Shroyer Harper. During World War II her served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Bunker Hill and the USS Block Island. He was a member of Northland Christian Church. Mr. Harper was a retired truck driver. Mr. Harper was married to Anna M. Moyer on June 1, 1951 at Bentonville, AR. She survives at home. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph N. Harper. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: LaVerne Ard of Osage City and LaVon Langston of Topeka; a son, Ray Harper of Vian, OK; a brother: Paul Harper of Wichita; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 4, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence followed by military honors by Topeka North Post #400 of the American Legion. Private interment of cremains will be at a later date at Dover Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
