OBITUARY: Wilbert John Hartman
Wilbert John Hartman, 86, Topeka, died Wed., Sept. 20, 2006, at Plaza West. He was born March 2, 1920, at Linn, the son of Christopher Frederich and Lillian Verena (Fahsholtz) Hartman. He served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II.
Wilbert was a diesel mechanic for Topeka Transfer and Storage. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the Teamsters Union.
He was married to Winifred Potts on May 25, 1945, at Macclesfield, England. She preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 2004. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gerry Monhollon, on July 11, 2006.
Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Monhollon, of Topeka; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Linda Hartman of Topeka; grandchildren: Danny and Shara Monhollon, Josh and Chantel Hartman, and Pat Monhollon; great-grandchildren: Danielle, Shelby, Gerald, and Patrick Monhollon and Preston Hartman; and great-great-grandson: Jacob Cooper.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Sat., Sept. 23, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Wilbert will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
