Warren Rudolph Rice, 91, Topeka, died Tues., Oct. 24, 2012, at Rolling Hills Health Center.
He was born Oct. 15, 1921, at Freck, AR, the son of Randolph C. and Clara L. (Baker) Rice. Warren served in the U.S. Navy WW II. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Warren was a member of Northland Christian Church.
He was married to Velva N. Sasser on Nov. 16, 1945, in Topeka. She survives of the home. Also surviving are three children and their spouses: Howard "Randy" and Becky Rice of Burlingame, Jeanne and Ric Averill of Lawrence, and Pat and John Boyle of Chillicothe, OH; a brother: Jerry Rice of Topeka; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with U.S. Navy Honors will be at 2:00 PM, Sat., Oct. 27, 2012, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka. Warren will lie in state from 3:00 PM, Fri. to 12:00 noon, Sat., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka.
