Wanda Lucille Meakins

Wanda (Holmes) Meakins, 91, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

Wanda was born in Topeka, Kansas on May 13, 1933 to Robert and Ivah Holmes. She grew up in Topeka and graduated from Topeka High School. She married Jack on October 31, 1950 and they were blessed with five children: Brenda, Gerald, Shirley, Susan and Darrell.

Wanda loved spending time with family and friends. She loved to play bingo, word searches, puzzles and especially collecting Precious Moments. She managed EZ Shop for 25 years, and retired from Walmart after 34 years.

Wanda is survived by her children, Gerald (Cora) Meakins, Shirley Meakins, Susan Desch, Darrell (Pam) Meakins, sister, Jean Bonrud, brother, Ben (Deb) Woolsoncroft and 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Brenda and brothers, Alvin and Glen.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.
