Wanda Marie Morgan
Wanda Marie Morgan, 83, Topeka, died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. She was born November 14, 1931, at Littlefield, TX, the daughter of Fannie Mae Jennings and Hershell Whitfield.
Wanda lived in Texas for 19 years and in California from 1952 to 1966; when she moved to Topeka. In Topeka she was employed by Holiday Inns, I-470-Wanamaker Road Truck Stop and then for the State of Kansas. She had served as a tour guide in the Capitol, Capitol Police Department Dispatcher, and at the time of her retirement worked in the mail room.
She was married to James C. King in 1945; they later divorced. She was married to Francis L. Morgan, Sr. on June 2, 1964, in Las Vegas, NV. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1994.
Surviving are a daughter: Quincie Ann Morgan of Topeka; two sons: Jerry Steven King of Nogales, AZ and Thomas DeWayne King of Tucson, AZ; a brother: Wendell Whitfield of Saratoga, CA; a sister Lodell Tabor of Illinois; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wayne Whitfield.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 19, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS.
Wanda will lie in state from 3:00 to 8:30 PM Thursday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM.
