OBITUARY: Wanda L. Graybeal
Wanda Louise Graybeal, 85, Topeka, died Sat., March 17, 2007, at her home. She was born March 9, 1922, at Paxico, the daughter of Charles Henry and Jeanette Amanda (Sweeney) Gooden.
Wanda was graduated from Maple Hill High School. During World War II she worked at Seymour Foods and the Pauline Supply Depot. She and her husband owned and operated Graybeal Construction Company before retiring. She had been a docent for Every Women's Resource Center. She was a member of Women of the Moose; Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion Auxiliary; and Lake Shawnee Ladies Golf Assoc. where she was secretary for several years.
She was married to Dean Roscoe Graybeal on June 17, 1942, at Pueblo, CO. He preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1987. They were preceded in death by an infant daughter, Wynona Jean, in Jan., 1944.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law: Deanna and Hank Lovato of Topeka; a son and daughter-in-law: Ronald and Linda Graybeal of Topeka; grandchildren: Jeff Graybeal, Kyndra Morris, Kimberly Vitale, Kelly Baker and Hal Lovato; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Charles Eugene Gooden and Richard G. Gooden both of Topeka; and 2 sisters: Virginia Lett of Maple Hill and Arlene Widner of Topeka.
Committal services will be at 10:00 AM, Wed., March 21, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth. Wanda will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.
