OBITUARY; Waltermer G. Seedig, Jr.
Waltermer Gus Seedig, Jr., 77, Topeka passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2005.
Walt was born May 4, 1927 in Pampa, TX, the only child of Waltermer and Ella Seedig. He was raised and lived in rural Texas and New Mexico before joining and serving in the Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Breton.
In 1948, Walt was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a signal maintainer in New Mexico and Colorado until 1961 when he was promoted to the signal engineering office in Amarillo, TX. He was transferred to the Topeka signal engineer office in 1977 and retired as a Signal Design Engineer from Santa Fe in 1989.
Walt married Geraldine (Jerry) Joan Roberts on June 30, 1951 in Hatch, NM. . Walt is survived by Jerry; son, Rex (Albuquerque, NM); and son, Rusty and his wife, Janice, and grandsons, Joshua and Jason (Denver, CO).
He was a member and past Deacon of the First Southern Baptist Church of Topeka. Walt was a Mason for 55 years and a member of Golden Rule Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M. He was a 24 year member of Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies and Arab Shrine Temple. He was a member of Arab Shrine's Sun Devil Unit.; Santa Fe Golf League of Lake Shawnee; Forbes Senior Golf League; Topeka Engineers Club; and Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, Jan. 10, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence, followed by services conducted by Capitol Post # 1 of the American Legion and Golden Rule Lodge # 90, A.F. & A.M. Interment of cremains will be in LaJunta, CO at a later date.
Walt will lie in state from 12:00 noon Sunday until service time at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9th..
