Walter Glen "Bud" Fargo
Walter "Bud" Glen Fargo, 89, Topeka, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. He was born Feb. 5, 1914, in Topeka, the son of William H. and Jennie E. Elder Fargo. Mr. Fargo lived in Chanute, Arkansas City and Emporia before moving back to Topeka in 1984. He worked as a machinist for Santa Fe Railroad for 44 years before retiring in June of 1977. Mr. Fargo was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge No. 555, Eagle Aerie No. 58 and Machinist Union of Santa Fe. He served in the Kansas State Guard from August 1946 to June 1947. He married Mary E. Anderson on June 4, 1936, in Holton. Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Fargo, Topeka; a son, William "Bill" O. Fargo, Bedford, Texas; two daughters, Linda Lou Donovan, Topeka, and Mary Ann Stout Schneider, Carbondale; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Walter Fargo will lie in state at the funeral chapel after 1 p.m. Wednesday, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland United Methodist Church, 801 N.E.
