Wallace Walter “Sonny” Boman, 69, of Topeka passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. He was born May 7, 1950 in Concordia, Kansas the son of Wallace and Vida Elliott Boman. He graduated from Republic High School in 1968. He attended Cloud County Community College, later graduating from Fort Hays State University with a degree in education with an emphasis in Industrial Arts. Sonny taught high school at Palco, Kansas, and Jay Shideler Junior High School in Topeka. Later, Sonny sold cars at Ed Bozarth. He owned and operated his own construction company. Sonny was a member of Topeka Bible Church. Sonny enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid collector of Hot Wheels.
He married his high school sweetheart Joyce Webber on March 8, 1969 in Republic, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Topeka; sons, Scott Boman and wife Angella of Liberal, Kansas, Brent Boman and wife Rochelle of Topeka, and Ryan Boman of Topeka; daughter Ashley Worrel and husband Adam of Kanehoe, Hawaii; brother, David (Carol) Boman of Columbus, Nebraska; sisters, Barbara Hurley of Hays and friend Leon Huser of Victoria, Kansas, Nancy (Larry) Larson of Junction City, Kansas, Jan (Tim) Davis of Belleville, Kansas, Pam (Ron) Schmit of Wichita, Kansas, Sheila (Leo) Blanding, Courtland, Kansas, and a brother-in-law Paul Osborne, Formoso, Kansas; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Osborne, granddaughter Kylie Boman; his parents, Vida and Wallace Boman; and his mother and father-in-law, Harry and Georgia Webber.
A memorial service will be held on Monday at 3:00 pm, June 17, 2019, at Davidson Funeral Home. Private family inurnment will be held later at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Davidson Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
