Virginia Mae Petrik

December 21, 1932 — March 24, 2023

Virginia Petrik passed away March 24, 2023. She was born December 21, 1932, in Junction City, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Florence (Stevens) Upham.

She grew up on the family farm, where they also ran one of the largest turkey productions in the country.

She became a medical technologist and was a consummate perfectionist and as such, she was excellent at this type of work. It was while working at this career, that she met her husband Edwin Petrik MD, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. They married in 1967, and together enjoyed 55 years of married life.

Virginia loved flowers and horses and was very knowledgeable about both. Her seven flower gardens brought beauty to their life and yard. Her skill working with horses brought multiple awards, including National Championships.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Ralph Upham and Florence Upham, brothers; Roy Upham DVM, and Wayne Upham and their wives; Ann and Beth.

Survivors include her husband; Edwin Petrik MD, daughter; Renee Petrik, niece; Gayla Jensen, and nephews; Scott Upham and Doug Upham.

Visitation will be on Friday, April 14, 2023 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Parker Price Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life is planned at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Cotton O'Neil Cancer Center and Helping Hands Humane Society.
