OBITUARY: Virginia Mae Newsome
Virginia Mae Newsome, 79, Topeka, died Mon., Feb. 28, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born March 2, 1931, in Topeka, the daughter of Carson C. and Ida D. (Sinclair) Swafford. She was retired from K.N.I. Surviving are 6 children: Sherry (Frank) Ortega, Doris Singleton, Joe Singleton, Terry (Cheryl) Wagner, Larry Newsome, and Karla (Larry) Cain; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Beulah Supple, Wilma Schmidtberger, and Carol Terry; and a great-granddaughter: Dacia Hutchinson. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM, Thurs., March 3, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave. Interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Virginia will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Wed., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
