Virginia "Virgie" L. Millard, 73, Topeka, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at a Topeka hospice house.
Mrs. Millard was a clerk for the Santa Fe Railway for 30 years before retiring in 1992.
She was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Burlingame, to L. Dean and Clara E. Rees Briggs. She moved with her family to Topeka in 1944 and graduated from Topeka High School. She attended Clarks Business School.
Mrs. Millard was a member of the auxiliaries to Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
She married Leonard "Banty" N. Millard on June 3, 1950, in Topeka. He died Jan. 1, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Martin D. Millard, Golden, Colo., and Steven N. Millard, Topeka; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Millard will lie in state at the mortuary after 3 p.m. Thursday where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice House, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, 66606-2800.
