Virginia Curtis

Virginia Curtis, 87, of Topeka passed away on December 25, 2023. Virginia was born at Marshfield, Missouri on January 25, 1936. Virginia was raised at Marshfield and attended school there.   She then moved to Kansas City Kansas she met Don C. Curtis, they were married on October 6, 1956.  In 1972 they settled in Topeka.   She attended several Topeka area churches through the years, helping with Sunday school and Vacation Bible School in the summer. Most recently they attended Heartland Worship Center.   She was a girl scout leader for many years.  She enjoyed comedy shows on TV, making floral arrangements for her home from flowers and living plants she gathered outside, and going each spring to attend a large flea market in Canton, Texas.  Don and Virginia liked to go antique shopping, even having a shop in their home in Topeka for several years. Virginia was fond of Chinese Food.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Howland and husband David of Topeka and Karen Smith of Topeka; three grandchildren, Leslie Kendall of Topeka, Jordan Kendall St. Louis, Missouri and Amber Peery of Topeka; great grandchildren, Luciana Hatton, Coren Hatton, Nadia Kendall, Phillip Kendall, Brantley Peery and Carrington Peery; and her sister, Connie Edlund of Kansas City, Kansas.

Along with her husband Don who preceded her in death on June 25, 2007, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Luther Day; and a great granddaughter, Brooklyn Peery.

Private funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Davidson Funeral Home.   She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Rochester Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be to Rolling Hills Assisted Living.   Services and Interment will be in Rochester Cemetery.
