Virgil Waggoner, 79, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018.
He was born March 29, 1939, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Kenneth and Carrie (Blankenship) Waggoner.
He graduated Topeka High School in 1957.
He worked at various grocers in Topeka; Dibbles, Harry's, Bauersfield, and Food 4 Less. He retired from Food 4 Less as the Meat Department Manager. His career spanned a total of 42 years.
He was a member of the Topeka Lodge No. 17, AF & AM and Scottish Rite. He served as past Master of Topeka Lodge No. 17. He had attended church at Oakland Presbyterian.
He loved to work in the yard and on the house as much as possible. He had volunteered at the Topeka Rescue Mission and enjoyed meeting up on Thursday morning's for breakfast with his past meat cutter co-workers.
His passion was to spend time with his family.
Virgil married Elizabeth Waggoner on June 14, 1958 in Topeka, KS, she survives. Other survivors include daughter, Kristine (Brad) Davis; son, Guy Waggoner; grandchildren, Sarah Waggoner, Emily Waggoner, Ashley (Grant) Schenewerk, and Rhianna Davis; great-grandchildren Mariah Faelske and Grayson Measmer; brother, Robert (Maggie) Waggoner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Waggoner.
A Funeral Ceremony with Masonic Services performed will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 N.W. Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Topeka. The family will greet friends one hour prior to service time.
