Obituary Notes
Violet B. Turner, 94, of Emporia, formerly of Denison and Topeka, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at her daughter's home. She was born January 4, 1911 in Rayborn, Missouri, the daughter of George Harrison and Pearl Carter Franklin.
She worked as a clerk for the State of Kansas for five years. She moved from Topeka to Denison in 1983.
Violet married Thomas G. Turner on December 23, 1932 at her grandfather's house in Hartville, Missouri. Mr. Turner died November 12, 1980.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Wayne Turner, a sister, Pansy Simmons, and a brother, E. E. "Pete" Franklin.
She is survived by five sons, Warren (Helen) Turner, Topeka; Jay (Gwen) Turner, Blue Rapids; Benny (Cheryl) Turner, Topeka; Larry (Debbie) Turner, Topeka; Jerry (Angie) Turner, Topeka; four daughters, Wilma Fay (Don) Cravens, Emporia; Willa May (George "Buff") Bufalo, Inverness, FL; Kay (Stephen) Jones, Lyndon; Betty (Ron) Booth, Morrison, CO; daughter-in-law Mary (Wayne) Turner, Denison; one brother, Arthur Franklin, Topeka; two sisters, Stella Rankin and Virlee Crupper, both of Tongonoxie; and her many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Committal services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Topeka Cemetery in the Garden Chapel.
Mrs. Turner will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
