Viola Mae Rowzer, 93, Topeka, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at The Topeka Presbyterian Manor. She was born in March 27, 1921, to Ralph Walter and Elsie Maude (Idlet) Green at Morrowville, Washington County, Kansas.
In 1939, she graduated from Berryton High School. Viola worked for the Federal Government in Arizona, Idaho, and Washington state. She retired from Colmery-O'Neil VAMC. She then worked as a file clerk for the Kansas Legislature. Viola was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Topeka.
She was married to Ira Bradley Rowzer on February 15, 1940, in Topeka. They were married for sixty years before he preceded her in death on February 17, 2000. Viola was also preceded in death by a daughter, Alma Akins, and a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Hust.
Surviving are children: Jackie Graham (Jim) of Wellton, AZ, Richard Rowzer (Linda R.) of Tecumseh, KS, Linda Greene (David) of Coalgate, OK, Lucille Murphy (Norm) of Boise, ID, and Maria Rowzer of Colorado Springs, CO, Michael Rowzer (Linda S.) of Haughton, LA; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 17, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue, Topeka, KS.
Viola will lie in state from 3:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
