Lucille Tosh McMillan
Viola Lucille Tosh McMillan 94, passed away June 1, 2012 at McCrite Plaza Retirement Community, Topeka. Lucille was born October 28, 1917 at Cheraw, Colorado, to Samuel Curtis and Hazel Turvey Tosh. She moved to Valley Falls in 1919 and to Topeka in 1923.
Lucille attended State Street Elementary School and Holiday Junior High School. She graduated from Topeka High School Class of 1936.
She married Nathan Joseph McMillan July 30, 1937. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before he died August 19, 1995.
Lucille worked for Hallmark, Hall Lithograph and retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield on May 1, 1980. She was a member of Phi Tau Omega National Philanthropic Sorority, Topeka's Tau Kappa Chapter, since 1974.
Lucille was predeceased by her parents, her husband Joe, two siblings – her brother Dale Curtis Tosh, her sister Alza Laverne Tosh in California, and her daughter Janice Ann McMillan Mumford Adame.
Lucille is survived by son James Lee McMillan and his wife Loreen; four grandchildren – Tracy Sue Mumford Williams, Scott Allan Mumford, Christopher Robin Mumford, Loren James McMillan; nine great grandchildren – Tracy's children - Jessica Matthias Finley, Jeramy and Sarah Matthias; Scott's daughters - Heather, Patricia, and Amanda Mumford; and Chris's sons - Dakota, Zachary, and Clayton Mumford; and four great, great grandchildren – Jessica's children - Brian and Cassandra Finley; Jeramy's daughters - Kelsey and Janice Matthias; and two nieces in California, Teryl Tosh Brown and Denise Tosh Pincus, great nieces and nephews in California and numerous cousins in Kansas, Colorado, and Texas.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m., June 4, 2012 at Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls, Kansas. A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m., June 4, 2012, in the chapel at McCrite Plaza Retirement Community, 1610 SW 37th, Topeka.
