Viola A. Amon, 95, of Topeka, passed away on July 17, 2023 at Rolling Hills Assisted Living in Topeka, Kansas.
Viola was born on November 20, 1927 to James and Anna (Kingsborough) Howe at the home in Scranton, Kansas.
She graduated from Scranton High School. Viola was a secretary for the Federal Government and retired after her hard work in 1993. She was a member of NOTOMA, Shawnee County Parks and Rec-Garfield Park Division for over 30 years, a life long member of the Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church, and the East Topeka NIA group.
Viola loved to play cards but especially solitaire. She enjoyed riding her bike around the North Topeka area with her dog Candy strapped on the back. She was a loyal servant to her church and was a family woman through and through. Her greatest accomplishment in life was her family and raising her grandchildren. A memory that Viola was most fond of was attending her last high school reunion. She was very proud of being the oldest person in attendance and receiving a special coin for that honor.
On September 20, 1952 Viola married Dwayne K. Amon.
Viola is survived by her loving children, Kathy (Laban) D. Swartzentruber and Kenneth Amon; grandchildren, Matthew (Erin) Ross, Kendra (Garret) Amon Ross, and Jaime (Keith) Liberty; great grandchildren, Trenton (Cassie) Ross, Glennys Ross, Ayla Ross, Hannah Liberty, and Sylas Liberty; and her great great granddaughter, Bailey Ross.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband; both of her parents; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers.
Visitation where family will greet friends will be on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Parker Price Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow starting at 5:00 pm.
