Vernon Diekhoff
Vernon R. Diekhoff, 83, formerly of Topeka, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at a Leavenworth hospital.
Mr. Diekhoff was a heavy diesel mechanic for the Santa Fe Railway. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Rochester, Minn., to Dirk and Anna Agina Diekhoff. He moved to Topeka from San Bernardino, Calif., in 1998 and moved to Lansing in November 2002.
Mr. Diekhoff was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka.
He married Evelyn Frances Gladding on Dec. 1, 1943, in California. She died Jan. 13, 2003.
Survivors include a son, Richard W. Diekhoff, Topeka; two daughters, Kathy A. McLellan, Fresno, Calif., and Susie M. Pina, Lansing; a brother, Calvin Diekhoff, Rochester, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Diekhoff was cremated. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka.
