OBITUARY: Verna M. Evans
Verna M. Evans, 75, passed away Feb. 21, 2006, at her home. She was born April 5, 1930, in Pt. Arthur, TX, the daughter of Etienne and Edith (Barras) Dugas. She married Harry J. Evans in Orange, TX, Aug. 8, 1948. Verna was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Auxiliary to Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion.
Survivors include her daughter: Gail Padilla and husband Raymond, Topeka; daughter-in-law: Patti Evans, Allen, TX; sisters: Anne Lemoine, Groves, TX, Melba Wells, Pt. Arthur, TX and Jane Gillespie, Nederland, TX; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her husband Harry, son Joe Evans, 3 brothers: Leonard, Ovide and Daniel Dugas, and one sister, Claudia Landry, preceded her in death.
A rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m. on Friday with visitation 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery.
