Verna G. Engelhardt, 92, of Topeka, passed away Monday, November 30, 2015. She was born December 6, 1922, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Gertrude (Medendorp) Engelhardt.
Verna was employed by Rotary International, the Illinois Synod of the Lutheran Church, the Lutheran School of Theology - Chicago (LSTC), and Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Riverdale, Illinois.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Topeka. She enjoyed music, crocheting, and knitting. She had a special love of traveling and dogs.
Survivors include nephews, Philip (LaVerne) Engelhardt and John (Janell) Engelhardt; niece, Kay Dahlquist; great-nephews and nieces, Christopher (Leslie) Engelhardt, Michael (Brenda) Engelhardt, BJ (Kirsti) Engelhardt, Jennifer (Chip) Schoenfeldt, Christina (George) Lunka, Eric (Carla) Dahlquist, and Catharine (Jeff) Hatch; and 11 great-great nephews and nieces.
A funeral ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, 1234 SW Fairlawn Road, Topeka. Cremation will follow the ceremony.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church or Helping Hands Humane Society.
