OBITUARY: Vern Clifford Ridgeway
Vern Clifford Ridgeway, 73, Topeka, KS, died Mon., Feb. 14, 2011, at his home. He was born July 28, 1937, in Gary, IN, the son of Roy I. and Eileen (Dixon) Ridgeway. He was raised in Topeka, lived in Baton Rouge, LA, for 30 years, and Belize, Central America, before returning to Topeka. Vern was a Licensed Addiction Counselor, and active in Alcoholics Anonymous for 37 years. During that time he was instrumental in helping countless others through the recovery process. He was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church. He was married to Rosalie McClaran on June 15, 1956, in Topeka. He was preceded in death by a son: Christopher Leroy Ridgeway on July 27, 1972; his parents; and a brother: Jerry Ridgeway. Surviving are his wife: Rosalie Ridgeway of the home: 2 brothers: Roy D. (Arceile) Ridgeway and Tracy D. (Glenda) Ridgeway; and a sister: Janel (Michael) Stadler all of Topeka. Memorial services will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., Feb. 18, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, Fri., at the funeral chapel.
