Vera Lora Murray, 90, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2006 at McCrite Plaza in Topeka. She was born on April 21, 1916 in LeRoy, the daughter of Elmer Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Clem Gentry. She grew up in LeRoy and graduated from LeRoy High School. She moved to Topeka in 1937. Mrs. Murray owned and operated Murray's Market in Topeka for 47 years. She was a member of Northland Christian Church, the International Twins Association, the Kansas Twins Association, the Downtown Optimist Club and Beulah Chapter No. 34, O.E.S. Vera married Robert S. Murray on October 10, 1937 in LeRoy. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2000. Survivors include two sons, R. Richard Murray of Topeka, James I. Murray of Beloit, one daughter, Marylin S. Post of Topeka, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W. Independence Ave. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Vera will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Central Park Christian Church, 1535 S.W.
