Vera D. Schaffert
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Mortuary for Vera D. Schaffert, 82, Silver Spring, Md. She died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2003, in Silver Spring. She was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Meriden, the daughter of George W. and Pearl V. Cunning Dellinger. She graduated from Meriden High School in 1937 and attended Stricklers Business College in Topeka. Mrs. Schaffert worked for an insurance company in Topeka. She moved to Washington, D.C., in 1940, where she worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration during and after World War II. She moved to Silver Spring, Md., from Virginia in 1962. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. She married Justin Clark Schaffert on Oct. 4, 1940, in Topeka. He preceded her in death June 3, 1972. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Schaffert, Silver Spring, Md.; and a son, Craig Schaffert, Framingham, Mass. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery. Mrs. Schaffert will lie in state after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday.
