Velda Ellen Flowers
Velda Ellen Flowers, 80, of Wichita, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Via Christi Village, Wichita. She was born February 21, 1937, in Burlingame, the daughter of Earl Jay and Erma Eileen (Carver) Parsons.
She was a C.N.A. at Larksfield Place in Wichita before retiring.
Velda was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Gerald Ray Flowers II and Darrel Flowers; and two brothers: Marvin Duane Parsons and Delbert Parsons.
On October 2, 1954, Velda was married to Gerald Ray Flowers in Topeka
.
Surviving are her husband Gerald Ray Flowers of the home; three daughters: Ellen Griffith-Wimer (Richard) of Kelso, WA, Evelyn Stuart (Dennis) of Wichita, and Becky Davis of Clarksville, IN; siblings: Verla Hunter (Clayton) of Hoyt, Larry Parsons (Merlene) of Scranton, Glenn Manning (Joyce) of Silver Lake, and Jim Parsons of Rogers, AR; ten grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 6405 Metcalf Avenue, Suite 204, Overland Park, KS 66202.
