Velata Vey Tibbs, 82 was welcomed to Heaven by her Lord Jesus on May 28, 2018. She was the daughter of Late & Pearl (Rowley) Langley. Velata graduated from Eskridge High School and was retired from Santa Fe. Following retirement she worked in day care.
Velata married Nick Tibbs in October 1957. Nick preceded her in death on June 6, 2013.
Velata was a member of Potwin Presbyterian Church and a former member of Central Church of Christ.
Velata loved being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed watching them play sports, traveling many miles and states to be at the games. Velata also enjoyed playing cards and farkle. She was on many bowling teams that might have included her mom, her daughter or son, or a sister.
Surviving with a hole in their heart includes her youngest sister, Virginia Langley; children: Debi & Mark Harvey, Jeff & Yolla Tibbs; grandchildren: Rachel, Jason, Amanda, Caleb, Diana and Andrew and great-grandchildren: Brandon, Shannon, Emma, Lily, Maggie, Rora and Lucas and many nieces and nephews.
Velata was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Don, Earl, Kenny, and Danny; sisters Geneva, Francis, El Dana, and Ruth; four infant siblings and her first born grandson, Nathan in 2005.
Velata's family greatly appreciates and feels very blessed to have had the care and love of Lexington Park Rehab & Nursing Staff for her last two years.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Potwin Presbyterian Church in the Garden Gazebo. Summer casual attire is welcome. Burial will follow at Eskridge Cemetery.
Velata will lie in state after 12 noon on Thursday with visitation from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions 245 N.W. Independence Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66608.
