Vanessa Kay Lewis, 53, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019.
She was born December 24, 1965, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Jerome and Phyllis (Meier) Karle.
She attended Topeka high-school. At the age of 15 she began working at Stormont Vail in nutrition services and later moved to Cotton O'Neil where she worked in medical records at the Urish Clinic Registrar; she has worked there for over 35 years.
Vanessa was a loving mother, sister, and friend. She was a fun and positive person, which always made her the life of every party she went to. She loved music and hanging out with her friends, and would sing and dance the night away. Most nights she liked watching T.V. in her recliner with Tillie on her lap, enjoying shows like Dr. Phil, Oprah, Ellen, E News, and The Kardashians.
Vanessa had a love for fashion and enjoyed working at her sister's clothing store, Deja Nu. After work she liked to cook one of her favorites, spaghetti.
Survivors include a son, Christopher Ortiz; brothers, Lynn Lewis and Kirk Lewis; sisters, Janell Eakin, Gwen Hobbs, and Misti Wright. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerome Lewis and brother, Craig Lewis.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the funeral home. A funeral ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2019 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 N.W. Independence Avenue, Topeka.
Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery in Topeka.
Memorial contributions may be made in the care of Parker-Price to help offset funeral expenses.
