Vance E. Ramsey

Vance E. Ramsey, 77, of Topeka passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.   He was born at Atchison, Kansas the son of Vance and Etta Mae Boatright Ramsey.   He was raised at Troy and graduated from high school there.   He married Mary Lucille Thornton on May 23, 1965.  They made their home in Topeka.  Vance was a carman at the Santa Fe Railroad for over 40 years before retiring.   He was an excellent welder.   He helped his dad farm at Troy.   Vance enjoyed deer hunting, and camping at Perry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his son Brian Ramsey; and several siblings.

Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda Burget and husband Tony of Hoyt, Kansas, Gena McFarland in Iowa; sister, Jan Pukatch of Topeka; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Cremation is planned.   A memorial visitation will be held from 6-7 pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka Ks 66608.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Osage Nursing Center.
