OBITUARY: Vana Gene Edwards
Vana Gene Edwards, 63, Topeka, died Thurs., Dec. 27, 2007, after an extended battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 27, 1944, at Lousiana, MO, the daughter of Eugene W. and Thelma I. (Kendall) Minor. She graduated from Topeka West High School in 1962, and Washburn University. Vana worked at the Menninger Foundation and Private Industry Training in California. She was married to Clifford E. Edwards. They later divorced. He preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 2001.
Surviving are 3 daughters: Kelly Streeter of Kansas City, KS, Melissa Edwards of Chualar, CA, and Jessica Edwards of Chualar, CA; her mother: Thelma I. Minor of Topeka; and a sister: Jeanell Wilder of Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thurs., Jan. 3, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Interment in Topeka Cemetery. Vana will not lie in state. Memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Twy, Ste. 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
