Twila June Stapel
Twila June Stapel, 84, of Topeka, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, at her home. She was born May 26, 1931 in Sidney, Nebraska, the daughter of Russell Brown and Ella Marie (Davis) Kinkade.
She was a 1949 graduate of Hoyt High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from Washburn University in 1972. Twila was employed as a social worker, retiring from Let's Help. She was a member of the Meriden United Methodist Church.
Twila married Robert Henry Stapel on February 10, 1952, at Hoyt Methodist Church. He survives.
Other survivors include three children, Rita (Thomas) Chapman, Hoyt, Rhonda (Bill) Sand, Topeka and Kyle Stapel, Meriden; three grandchildren, Lindsey (Kevin) Sharp, Douglas Sand and Kyle Stapel II; a great-granddaughter, Ryan Sharp; and two siblings, Frances Smith, Manhattan and Gary (Jan) Kinkade, Brownwood, TX.
A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Meriden United Methodist Church, Main & Dawson Streets, Meriden. Interment will follow at the Meriden Cemetery.
Twila will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
