Twila La'Rae Gillespie

Twila LaRae Gillespie, age 76, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Plaza West in Topeka.  Twila was born April 17, 1945 in Topeka the daughter of Hilton and LaVon (Meade) Metzger.  She graduated from Topeka High School.  She married Norwood “Woody” Gillespie April 18, 1968.  He preceded her in death January 20, 2000.  Twila enjoyed camping in their motorhome and quilting.  She owned LaRae’s Original Porcelain Dolls.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue Carter November 14, 2020 and a sister, Rayna L. Smith, April 15, 2015.  She is survived by a daughter, Tricia A. Gillespie-Frye of Osage City, KS; a son-in-law, Scott Carter of Topeka; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Cremation will follow.  She will be inurned at the Meriden Cemetery next to Woody at a later date.
