Tonya P. Brown

Tonya P. Brown, age 67, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at her home in Topeka.  Tonya was born October 4, 1953 in Wichita, KS and spent her early years in New Jersey.  She returned to Wichita, attending Dunbar, Horsemann, and graduating from Wichita North High School.  She worked as an LPN for the American Red Cross on the Blood Mobile and was later director of the Bone Marrow Program in Wichita.  She also worked as an in-home caretaker and later a delivery driver for Tillie’s Flowers.  After losing her sight, Tonya moved to Topeka to attend the Kansas School for the Blind.  Upon completion of the program, Tonya was placed at the Kansas State Capitol building where she served as a volunteer at the Visitor’s Center for over 10 years.

Tonya was preceded in death by a son, Quincy LeRoi Williams December 16, 1997.  Tonya is survived by three grandchildren, Quincy Elizabeth Spurlock, Carly Crumpler and Amelia Crumpler, along with several spiritual family members, Ken and Kathy Denton, Stephen and Teresa Crumpler family, Charles and Lisa Spurlock family, Christopher and Judy Fleet family, and Terri Little.  She is also survived by friends, Frankie Conley, Lotona Royal, Don Wistuba, Jimmy and Margaret Jones family, Armelita Williams, Greg and Necol Williams, Sharon Nightengale, Sheila and Sarah Putnam, Billy and Elmeree Green, Mark and Karissa Dugan family, Darren Wade, Joe Brentano and Vicki Benson.  She also has extended family in Wichita.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 10, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at the Northern Hills Baptist Church in Topeka.  Visitation will be at the church Thursday evening from 6:00- 8:00 p.m.  Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Wichita at 2:00 p.m. Friday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Northern Hills Baptist Church or the American Red Cross and left in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  www.davidsonfuneral.com
