Thomas "Lee" Jennings
Thomas "Lee" Jennings, 93, Topeka, formerly of Silver Lake and Dover, passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Aldersgate Village. He was born April 20, 1911, in Eskridge, the son of Oliver Lee and Bertha Parlee Castle Jennings. Mr. Jennings was a member of Silver Lake United Methodist Church, a 60-year member of Lake Lodge No. 50, AF&AM, of Silver Lake, and Loyal Chapter No. 176, OES, of Silver lake. He graduated from Eskridge High School in 1929. Mr. Jennings worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. as a calendar operator for 31 years. He retired in 1976. He volunteered his time at Stormont-Vail Hospital and the Kansas Museum of History. He served one term as mayor of Silver Lake. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mark E. Jennings, and a sister, Ethel Edgerton. He married Florence E. Maus on Sept. 13, 1934, in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mary Lee Rosen, Sun Lakes, Ariz., Janie Kay Gowin, Silver Lake, and Lu Dell Smith, Topeka ; eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and five step great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Silver Lake United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Silver Lake United Methodist Church, P.O.
