Thomas A. Becher, 95, of Topeka, Kansas, died of natural causes at his home.
He was born in Jasper, Indiana on September 2, 1928 to Othmar and Susan Becher.
Tom retired as a Command Sergeant Major in 1972 with 26 years of service in the US Army. He served in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War. He was an Airborne Ranger and Purple Heart Recipient. He then completed 21 years of service with the State of Kansas. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, and AUSA.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeri; daughter, Mary Jo Fender; sons, David Becher and John Becher; one grandson Michael Lykins; three sisters, Cyrilla Lueken, Mary Ann Potter, and Ruth Durlauf; brothers, Joe Becher, Frank Becher, and Charlie Becher; sons-in-laws, Dan Lykins and Fred Kirby.
He is survived by his children, Judy Lykins, Janet Kirby, Katrina (Chris Josephson) Becher, Tommy Lee Becher, Donnie Becher and Gary Becher; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and 6 great- great grandchildren and three more on the way.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Parker-Price & Davidson Funeral Home 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. The family will greet friends an hour prior to service.
Graveside Service with military honors will take place at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
