Theron Joseph Gassen

Theron Joseph Gassen, 70, of Topeka, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born March 4, 1934, in Henry Co., Mo., to Louis and Viola Goth Gassen. Mr. Gassen was a plumber and member of Plumbers and Pipefitter's Local Union No. 441 and had been retired for eight years. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church. He married Karel Bender on Dec. 29, 1956, in Topeka. She survives. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Frost, Topeka, and Anita Robl, Okemos, Mich.; a son, Steven Gassen, Topeka; a sister, Mary Stang, Topeka; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka. Mr. Gassen will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka after 3 p.m. Wednesday, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m .
