Theodore Boelens, 78, Silver Lake, passed away on Monday, November 29, 2010.
Ted was born September 20, 1932 in Patterson, NJ, the son of Theodore and Stella (Goulait) Boelens. He graduated from Coventry High School in Coventry, RI.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1971, completing a tour in Vietnam. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. He worked for Goodyear for 20 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Rossville American Legion, and VFW Post 1650 in Topeka.
Ted married Colleen Schultz on March 6, 1954. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Melody (Rick) Matyak, Delia; step-son, Vaughn Schultz, Topeka; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Joan Smith, Hingham, MA; and brother, Peter (Maria) Boelens, Marco Island, FL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the Eskridge Cemetery. Ted will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
