Thelma Elizabeth Claspill
Thelma Elizabeth Claspill, 82, Topeka, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at McCrite Plaza, Topeka. She was born Sept. 23, 1921, at Uniontown, the daughter of William and Emma (Boyer) Shinn. She had lived in the Fort Scott community from 1936 to 1956, and had been a resident of Topeka since 1956. She was a member of Oakland Church of the Nazarene. She worked for Josten Yearbook, Luce Press and Montgomery Ward. She married Isaac Freeland Claspill on March 26, 1936, in Nevada, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept. 19, 1987. Surviving are four sons, Dexter H. Claspill, Tecumseh, Larry Claspill, Ivins, Utah, Stephen Claspill, Topeka, and Timothy Claspill, Topeka; an adopted daughter, Christine Renee Claspill, Topeka; eight grandchildren; four step grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Claspill will lie in state after noon Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Oakland Church of the Nazarene, 939 N.E.
