Thelma J. Cottingham, 95, Grantville, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018.
She was born January 2, 1923, in Burlington, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Bernice (Burge) Roush. She graduated from LeRoy High School in 1942 and attended Emporia Teachers College.
Thelma was liner for Jostens American Yearbook for 19 years, retiring December 31, 1985. She was elected Mayor of Dearing, Kansas in 1954, serving in that position for 2 years.
Mrs. Cottingham attended Grantville United Methodist Church and was a member of United Methodist Women, Dearing Christian Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary at Coffeyville, KS and XYZ Seniors.
Thelma married Ora Cottingham on July 2, 1943 in Lawrence, KS. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, David and two siblings, Jeanne Williams and Jack Roush.
Survivors include a son, Mike (Deborah) Cottingham and granddaughter, Ariane Cottingham, all of Topeka.
Visitation will be 10 am Friday, June 8, 2018 at Grantville United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 11 am. Private inurnment was held at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel.
