Sylvia Doris Stewart, 93, of Topeka, formerly of Wichita, passed away April 30, 2015.
She was born December 20, 1921 in Delavan, Kansas, the daughter of George D. and May (Merritt) Block. She was a graduate of Delavan High School.
Sylvia was employed by Wichita Public Schools, retiring in 1985.
Sylvia married Wilford C. "Bill" Stewart. He preceded her in death on December 16, 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn J. Farthing and husband, Roger L. of Topeka; a son, Lynn E. Stewart and wife, Kathy of Edmond, OK; four grandchildren, Lance Farthing and wife, Amy, Wendy Watson, Jaime Perkins and husband, Phil and Laura Foutch and husband, Brendan; and seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Lindsey, Will, Owen, Mia, Hadlee and Austen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Glenn and Dale Block and two sisters, Luella Bullock and Evelyn Buchwald.
Honoring her request, Sylvia was cremated. A graveside service will be 2 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2015 at Resthaven Cemetery, Wichita, KS.
